Visually speaking,
I'd say that 1/4 comes from going to gallery shows / museums and seeing works in person.
1/4 comes from [link]
another 1/4 comes from searching through other people's favorites on deviantart
and the last 1/4 comes from observing nature.
non visually, reading a lot makes interesting artwork, conversations with diverse people/people very different from yourself makes interesting artwork, knowing what new scientific discoveries are happening makes interesting artwork and using the statement: what if... makes interesting artwork, working really hard everyday on the same thing with a specific set of rules makes interesting artwork, and combining structurally different materials/techniques makes interesting artwork too.
